Stocking up for winter

Junior Allison Faullin examines the various scarves made of alpaca wool Monday afternoon on The Mall. Faullin is familiar with the warm wool because her aunt raises alpacas near Boston. Second string photos

Hello everyone!

It’s been a relatively uneventful week at the Index, so I thought I’d take the time to show you some of the photos that didn’t make the cut. For every photo assignment, our photographers turn in as many as 200 photos, which usually means 199 don’t make the print version. Here are a few of this week’s second string.

The newest members of Truman's greek community ran down the hill in Red Barn Park on Monday afternoon. Here, new members of Alpha Sigma Alpha announce their names before shouting "I just joined the best damn sorority on campus!" and running into a crowd of their new sisters. Blaise Hart-Schmidt/Index

Freshman Alex Schenr dons the Spike costume at Stokes Stadium on Tuesday afternoon. Schenr said he loses as much as 10 pounds of sweat per game in the suit. Blaise Hart-Schmidt/Index

Shooting for the Index is always enjoyable, but this week’s gorgeous weather and interesting characters made it even better. Make sure to follow @TrumanIndex on Twitter, ‘like’ us on Facebook and read this week’s issue online at www.trumanindex.com.

Students protest Recycling Center changes

Students brought thousands of plastic and glass bottles to the Quad on Thursday afternoon, protesting the discontinuation of glass and plastic recycling at the University Recycling Center. The public drop-off service will also close.  Junior Emily Love said University President Troy Paino agreed to meet with students Wednesday to discuss possible solutions for the Recycling Center.

We would love to hear your thoughts and feedback!
